Cheap Wedding Favor for Less Than a Dollar

NOM
Wedding favors are a variable expense for weddings, and if you are going to do wedding favors, it is a good idea to try to save costs and make them useful. There are some low cost favors online, such as there are at least 16 different wedding favors under $1 at favorfavor.com, and some favors are as cheap as .59 cents each. While no one will think you handed out family heirlooms for wedding favors, these are surprisingly nice for the very cheap cost. These favors include bookmarks, tea, candles, mint tins, key chains, shot glasses, and three kinds of photo frames. I really like the photo frame option since most people can always use an extra picture frame around the house or the office, and if you send your guests a wedding photo with your thank you notes (check out shutterfly.com for some free photo print deals) this makes a nice memento of your wedding day.

The Favorfavor.com website has a frame called "Curved Place card Frame" for .85 cents but it looks more expensive to me as it is a brushed silver tone look. This frame favor can double as a table place card holder and a photo frame. This particular holds a 2" x 3" business card sized card, so you can use a business card template in your Word Processing Program to make place cards to put in the frames. You can make these yourself by choosing a pretty font, such as Lucinda Calligraphy or Garamond or find one online that is more 'bridal-y". Search for free fonts online for a pretty font to use so you can print out names on your printer on coordinated colored paper. Staples, JoAnn Fabrics, and even eBay has various papers you can use, including scrapbooking papers or origami paper. Or you can choose a pretty picture or clipart on plain paper, one example is to set a graphic as a watermark so that you can print patterned papers on standard regular paper. In Microsoft Word, choose a graphic for the background, and select "Page Layout" and then go to "Page Background" and select a picture to place in the background. You can also choose "Watermark" for something of a pastel background. Make sure your printer is set to print background graphics. Some pretty True Type free fonts for use in wedding printed materials which available online that are worth searching for include Coventry Garden, Gigi, Bernhard Fashion, Celtic Garamond, Edwardian Script, Vivacious, and Lucinda Handwriting fonts. Also consider variants of Zapfino and just searching for fonts similar to your wedding theme such as Edwardian Fonts, calligraphy fonts, Celtic fonts, art deco fonts, and the like.
Also try visiting a dollar store and see if anything frames make for a good favor, such as silk flowers, beading and wire, or scrapbooking materials hot gun glued to an acrylic or resin frame.

To Make Wedding place card favors, you will need:

1. A picture frame for each guest or couple

2. Colored paper or plain paper on which you will print a pattern and the names of your guests. Alternatively you can use blank business cards papers from Avery, which can be found at stores like Staples and Office Max.

3. A list of the correct names and final table numbers for each guest

4. A font of your choosing, either purchased or downloaded for free

5. A business card template to print out several cards per sheet of paper. If you use Microsoft Word, use one of the business templates for Avery Business card templates.

6. Printer Ink.

7. Additional enhancements if desired, such as rhinestones, stickers, rub-ons, ribbons, etc.
