Cheap Do it Yourself Wedding Favor Crafty Ideas

These wedding or bridal shower favors will take some time and a bit of skill, but basic instructions and recipes are available online and the basic tools are very inexpensive. Find glassine plastic favor baggies and curly ribbons from a craft store to hold the craft item you make, or another packaging material.

Origami wedding favors. You can use wrapping papers, pretty bags, and of course craft and origami papers. Basic designs and free step by step directions for origami shapes can be found online. Try the discount coupons for A C Moore or check on ebay for pretty origami papers and basic designs for gift boxes, cranes, butterflies, or simple designs. Pretty atop a napkin or plate at a reception of atop a place card. An origami box can be filled with mints, conversation hearts, Hershey kisses or almonds.

Do it yourself soaps or Chocolate favors. Chocolate and/or soap molds sell for a few dollars and you can make your own custom favors for the cost of chocolate. There are some nice ones on ebay or in craft and baking stores. A basic melted chocolate recipe can be done with chocolate chips or baking chocolate, soap recipes are available online. Just make enough favors for your guests, if you goof up, then re-melt and try again. Save them in plastic bags (you can wrap them in special glassine bags and a curly ribbon to seal it. You can also make an origami box to hold them. Make sure to keep them cool enough to not melt, such as in the fridge, and bring them to the reception in an igloo container. Also make sure to make a few extra in case of breakage or melting.

Make your own candles. Buy plain candles or votives in bulk from a dollar store and press into them pretty thumbtacks or beads to make decorative candles that look more expensive. Wrap in tulle.

Make your own bubble favors. This one is probably cheaper to buy, but if you have containers with wands for some reason, then just mix up a few drops of dishwashing liquid with water per container. If you buy generic white bubble bottles, you can always customize with a label or sticker.

Collect seashells and beach glass and fill dollar store bottles with them. Especially good for a summer or beach wedding. Or, dry local wildflowers and make arrangements inside a decorative or dollars store bottles.

Make olive or almond oil infused with herbs or edible flowers like chives and store in airtight bottles. They make a pretty and useful favor.

Decorate cheap acrylic frames with various silk flower buds, beads, decorative paper clips, and other items available cheaply at scrapbooking stores. These frames often go on sale for 2 for $1 and can double as place card holders.
