Cheapening the Royal Wedding : Guest Invitations Include the Rich and Famous

The Royal Wedding : Prince William and Kate Middleton Guest List Information

Tony Payne
Finally the invitations for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on 29th April have been sent out, all 1,900 of them, and there are some surprising names both included on and omitted from the much anticipated guest list according to inside sources.

As well as the obligatory Royals, heads of state and other distinguished guests from around the world, and a good number of soldier and airmen, it seems that the event could be cheapened by the inclusion of some rich and famous celebrities.

According to insiders, the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson is not invited to the wedding, however her ex-husband Prince Andrew, and their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie are on the guess list. Prince William has reportedly not spoken to Sarah Ferguson since before his mother, Princess Diana died in a car crash in 1997.

While it is not surprising that Sarah Ferguson is not on the list, it is probably more surprising that US president Barack Obama is not.

Around 100 members of the public are expected to be invited to the Royal Wedding as well, using a ticket drawing that is reminiscent of the Willy Wonka golden ticket.

Singer/songwriter Elton John is reported to have been invited, and this was expected, since he wrote a special version of his classic Candle In The Wind for the funeral of Princess Diana.

Also apparently invited are footballer David Beckham and his wife Victoria, presumably because of the connection that Prince William had with the World Cup in South Africa last year. I wonder if Victoria Beckham will manage a smile or maintain her usual stuck up expression?

A copy of the Royal Wedding Invitation can be seen HERE , and the dress code is uniform, morning coat or lounge suit.

The wedding ceremony is expected to be followed by a reception, that will be hosted by the Queen, and to which those guests from the couple's official and private lives will be invited.

Prince Charles will then host a more intimate evening dinner for the couple, together with their closest friends and family.

This is definitely going to be an event held on a much smaller scale than that of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, befitting both of the tough economic times as well as the fact that Prince Charles, not his son Prince William is the heir to the throne.

Why should the Obamas be invited? This is not a State affair! It seems the list is quite relevant to the young couple's life style, etc. Wishing them all the best!

Now that would be interesting if the President crashed the wedding. It would be a first I am sure.

We aren't planning to be anywhere near London that day. Probably a quiet day at home so Debbie can watch it on tv.
