Cheapest Gas Prices in St. Charles, Missouri

Elle
There is a gas station on nearly every corner in St. Charles, Missouri. But why are the gas prices so different? Isn't it the same gas you are getting from each pump? Despite the cost, it really doesn't matter where you buy it. Most gas stations have a maximum of 4 cents difference in price. My husband is just stupid about saving a penny. If there are two gas stations to choose from and one is 2 cents less per gallon, he will go completely out of his way to save 2 cents per gallon. Is this reasonable?

20 Gallons per day saving a Penny

If your tank holds 20 gallons and you fill it up, you might only save 20 cents each time you buy gas and fill up your tank. If you have a long drive to work and have to fill up every day (365 days a year), you will still only save $73 the entire year if you saved 1 cent per gallon.

20 Gallons per day saving 4 cents per gallon

What if you saved 4 cents per gallon on a 20-gallon tank that you filled up every single day? Then you would be saving $292 per year.

Do the math:

4 cents per day x 20 gallons = .80 / day YOU SAVE 80 CENTS PER DAY

.80 x 365 (days per year) = $292 YOU SAVE 292 Dollars PER YEAR - WOW!

Again, that just seems like a drop in the bucket. And who is filling up every single day? You could use that money to buy a can of soda at work or something.

PLACES THAT OFFER THE CHEAPEST GAS in ST. CHARLES COUNTY

But, if you must save the 4 cents on gas every trip you make to the station, here are the best places to shop for gas in St. Charles, Missouri.

Quick Trip

Although this is a chain, not all of the Quick Trip locations sell their gas at the same price. Typically the one on the North Outer Road of Highway 70 and Mid Rivers has the lowest price first. The other locations are quick to follow suit within a day or two. Also, the Quick Trip located at Jungerman and McClay seems to be quick about dropping their prices below other locations.

Dirt Cheap

Dirt Cheap is actually more of a liquor and smoke store, but one location offers gas at the lowest price in town. They are usually within a cent or two of the Quick Trip locations, but offer an even greater deal if you pay cash at the pump. For patrons paying cash, Dirt Cheap used to offer 4 cents cheaper price. I noticed recently with unemployment going up and stress on the economy, they have changed their cash price to 3 cents per gallon cheaper. The only Dirt Cheap location I know of that sells gas is the one at Highway 94 and Kisker. They also have a great price for cigarette and alcohol purchases within their convenience store.

FUN TWISTED FACT ABOUT CONSUMPTION

The United States consumed about 400 million gallons per day in 2006.

That means if we all saved 4 cents per gallon on those purchases at the pump, we would have given 16 million dollars less to the oil companies in 2006. Now that seems like a difference.

Holy cow, where's my drill? I need to find some oil.
