Cheats and Hints for Rockstars, the MySpace Application Game

MySpace application games are insanely popular right now, and of the ones I've tried, Rockstars is by far my favorite. Not only are there more in-game options and almost limitless things to spend your gig money on, but the cheat box is enabled more often compared to other games like Mobsters and Mafia Wars.

First of all, the Rockstars cheat box isn't always up. The last time it was working was three days prior to the publication of this article. The best time to look for the cheat box, is right after one of the many lags (routine maintenance) in the game.

If you play these application games, you're already familiar with the seemingly random downtime that lasts for a few minutes. While some of the downtime could be due to a hanging server, this is also when small changes are made to the games, and when cheats are enabled and disabled.

The next time you notice one of these, go to the main page where the news section is and scroll to the very bottom. You will notice some MySpace information at the bottom. In the white area you will see, "©2003-2008 MySpace.com. All Rights Reserved." In the black space above that copyright sign, click, and you should see a text box when the cheat has been reactivated by the administrators.

When this box is working, there are three codes you can type in to gain stats or points:

help = 10 contract points from your agent
rockinmoney = $5,000
banndaowner = 10 band members (studio musicians that don't count towards your band's real member count)

If the cheat box is not enabled when you go to try this out, don't fret! There are still many shortcuts to getting rich fast.

Of course, the best way is to enlist as many band members as possible, but once you have enough to kick a little butt, no less than 20, here is a technique you can use to gain more money.

First, select a pop rocker because they tend give out more money in battle. Before you attack, select someone with at least 20 members and click on their name to go to their profile. If they have lots of gear, including an airplane, copy the URL of that profile and copy it to a text file so you don't lose it.

Attack this player one time to see if you get money, and by money I mean at least $10,000, but upwards to $70,000. If this doesn't work, you can ditch the URL and try again, but if it works, attack this player as many times as you can. Place the money in the bank and play until your stamina builds again. Copy that URL from your text file, and paste into your browser's address bar, and you can attack him again until he goes to the therapist. This will work until you level up, then you have to find someone new.

This technique works for the other application games as well, but you can't send that URL to other players to use, because it contains your player's ID number and it won't work for anyone else.

Also, if you feel like ruining your credit, which I don't recommend, you can apply for one of the credit card offers in the agent section. For some of these cards, for every dollar you spend, you get one contract point.

Lastly, don't spend those first 10 contract points until you level up! Really, the only thing they are good for is money, and every time you go up a level, you are offered $5,000 extra dollars. I would wait until you really need it.
