The Samsung SyncMaster Monitor has a 22 inch screen, and a 1680 x 1080 resolution and 5ms response time. That is fast.
The Samsung SyncMaster Monitor also has something I had not seen before in a monitor. A built in 3.0 mega pixel Webcam and microphone. It has built in speakers too, but the monitor I am replacing does as well.
I ordered Samsung SyncMaster Monitor, and waited about a week for it to arrive. When it did, I was impressed with the way it was packaged. Everything was packed nicely into a Styrofoam insert. All the parts were very well protected.
The base of the Samsung SyncMaster Monitor is in two pieces, and assembles very easily. You also have several connection options for the monitor. I have gotten used to using a DVI cable with my old monitor.
You also have an HDMI input, so if you want to you can even hook up a DVD player to the Samsung SyncMaster Monitor.
I got the Samsung SyncMaster Monitor connected to my computer, and fired it up. I was immediately impressed with the picture. While some of the larger monitors might have a 1920 x 1200 resolution, the screen on the Samsung offers plenty of real estate.
The picture quality on the Samsung SyncMaster Monitor is very good. The colors seem brighter, and the contrast is better. I did not notice any blurring on motion.
I decided to give the webcam a try next. You have to connect it to your computer with a USB cable, and the back of the Samsung SyncMaster Monitor gives you two USB ports. I followed the instructions for setting up the webcam and microphone.
I fired up Yahoo Messenger, and turned on the webcam. The friend I was talking to said the picture quality was very good. The microphone is built into the bezel of the monitor. It picks up sound pretty well. I told my friend that the webcam was built into the Samsung SyncMaster Monitor I had just bought.
I tried out the speakers on the Samsung SyncMaster Monitor, and as I had found with my previous monitor, built in speakers do not have the greatest sound.
The Samsung SyncMaster Monitor gives great performance for a relatively low price. When you consider that you get a good sized monitor, and a built in webcam and microphone you can't go wrong.
