Checklist for International Travel:
Visa/Passport- One of the first things you should think about is getting the passport and visa taken care of. Find out exactly what you need and get it set up as soon as possible. You aren't going anywhere unless you have this stuff with you. This will be an additional cost to all of your other travel expenses. It can get a little expensive so be prepared for that. Find out exactly what you need to do and where you have to go in order to get the passport and visa so you will have it in hand in plenty of time before boarding the plane.
Shots (immunizations)- Find out whether or not you need to get any specific immunizations before travelling overseas. This is of particular importance if you are travelling to countries that are underdeveloped in comparison to other countries in the world. You don't want to contract any diseases while you are there but you also don't want to leave anything that you bring into the country. You may even be required to get certain shots before you leave. Make sure you have everything covered before you try to board that airplane.
Awareness- Make yourself aware of local wildlife that could be harmful to you and what to do if you encounter any of them, make yourself aware of local laws where you are visiting and make yourself aware of any diseases that are particular to the area and how to avoid them. If you learn these things, you will have a much safer and pleasant trip. Getting as much information as you can about the place you will be visiting is the only smart way to travel abroad.
Weather/Climate- You obviously can't know what the weather will be from day to day while you are on travel. What you can know is what the climate and temperature are usually like during the season you will be visiting. This will help you decide how to pack. There is nothing like getting to a destination only to discover that you brought all winter clothes and it's hotter than the devil where you are visiting. Be prepared by knowing what you are likely to encounter weather wise while you are travelling. It could save you a lot of money.
These are the most important things to be aware of when it comes to making sure you are properly prepared for your overseas travel. Being prepared will make the trip go much more smoothly. There is no need to run into problems because you didn't make sure that you got your passport in time. There is no need to bring home infectious diseases when you can get a shot to prevent from getting it in the first place. Have the best trip you could possibly imagine by preparing.
