Cheekbones and Blush: Make Your Face Look Thinner with Makeup

Crystal Ray
My face is somewhat round, and I'm positive that no matter how thin my body would become, my face would still look round and somewhat pudgy. I know this will be a plus as I age and my cheeks begin to lose some of their plumpness, but in the meantime I've looked for ways to make my face look thinner. I use makeup to give my cheekbones more dimension and provide an illusion that makes my face look thinner than it really is.

If you want to make your face look thinner, give these makeup tricks a try. It's possible to create visible cheekbones with blush, even if they're not at all apparent. Celebrities use makeup tricks to correct facial flaws, and if you want to make your face look thinner, you can too!

Those with visible cheekbones naturally have a thinner looking face, but high cheekbones aren't necessary when you have blush of various shades. Just like an artist, you can give your face shape and dimension and make it look thinner than you ever thought possible. Apply blush correctly and your face will look incredibly thinner and naturally beautiful with natural looking cheekbones created with makeup.

Buy a Cheek Palette

Begin by purchasing a blush palette containing three shades of color to enhance your skin tone. I use Physician's Formula Cheek Palette, Cream to Powder Blush. It contains three shades of cheek color, and it's the perfect shade for my medium to olive complexion. Inside the handy mirrored case is a quarter-size circle of the darkest shade, a larger medium tone, and a smaller moon-shaped shade that's far lighter than the other two.

Application Tips

Once you have a palette of blush in three shades, begin by applying the darkest tone just below the cheekbones - even if they aren't apparent. Don't apply it past the outer corner of the eyes, and apply it over to the hairline while blending it in with your fingertips. Makeup is meant to enhance and not completely change your appearance, and it's important to make sure it's blended in well.

Next, apply the medium shade directly above the darker shade, and blend them together so the differences aren't at all apparent. This will give dimension to the cheekbones, and this technique can't be achieve with ordinary blush of a single color.

The last step is to highlight the cheekbones with the lightest shade of blush, directly above the medium tone. Just like an oil painter, you'll add shape to the cheekbones with makeup, and as a result, your face will look naturally thinner. The top highlight will make your face glow while giving it a more youthful appearance.
