Cheesecake Dilemma: Adam Matthews Cheesecake Vs. Sara Lee Cheesecake

Amber A.
I am a huge Cheesecake fan and will do anything to find a cheesecake that my family and I with like. I have tried numerous brands of ready to eat cheesecake however have never really found the right one for me. I am not a person that cooks much either, so I can't even try to cook my own.

I did find that the two brands that I enjoyed the most were Adam Matthews Cheesecake and Sara Lee cheesecake. This article will give you an idea of why I like each of these items, and also what I don't like about these items. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what one you would like to try.

First off, I will go ahead and speak about the Original Adams Matthews Cheesecake with gram cracker crust. I purchased this product at my local Wal-Mart for the price of $6.79 for a 8 inch 32 ounce Cheesecake. The Adam Matthews Cheesecake is a plain cheesecake with no toppings. The cheesecake is sold frozen, and you have to thaw it in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours before serving. The cheesecake was packaged in a plastic wrapper inside of a box with a clear top so the customer could see the cheesecake before buying. The first one I purchased I had a small problem with as the inside wrapping was not totally sealed. It looked as if the factory machinery had missed one side of sealing on this cheesecake. I was disappointed because the edges of the cheesecake were all dried out. I did get to enjoy the center of the cheesecake but it was still not the same.

I ended up purchasing a second one, as I thought everything should have a second chance. This particular cheesecake did not have the sealing issue, so I was a very happy consumer. The cheesecake was fresh tasting and had the perfect taste. All of the ingredients were blended perfectly. I could have added fruit to the cheesecake, however it was very good plain. If you are a cheesecake lover, and don't like all the extras on top of the cheesecake, I would suggest Adam Matthews Cheesecake for you as the best and freshest ready to eat cheesecake that I have ever tasted.

The second cheesecake that I want to talk about today is the Sara Lee French Cheesecake with strawberry topping. This Cheesecake was purchased at my local Publix grocery store for the price of $5.49 for a 26 ounce cheesecake. This cheesecake is very different from the Adam Matthews Cheesecake. The Sara Lee Cheesecake is a very light and fluffy cheesecake. The cheesecake itself is whipped and on a small graham cracker crust.

I have experienced the Sara Lee Cheesecake numerous times and was not really impressed with the cheesecake itself or even the fruit strawberries that were on top of the cheesecake. The strawberries tasted canned and not fresh at all. The cheesecake was definitely light tasting and whipped. It did not taste like actual cheesecake.

Sara Lee Cheesecake is alright if you are not looking for the true cheesecake taste. My kids sure do love this cheesecake though. If I would let them, they would eat the whole cheesecake themselves.

In conclusion, I would defiantly have to say that the Adam Matthews cheesecake is top notch in my book. The company that manufacturers this is great, has great internet email support and is quick to respond to any inquiries. If you want a great ready to eat cheesecake, I would definitely spend the extra and purchase the Adam Matthews instead of the Sara Lee Cheesecake. I have included the links to both companies websites in the supporting links website if you want to see these items.

The Adam Matthews cheesecake sells very poorly. I'm amazed you bought it, nobody else does. I've been a sales associate at Walmart for a year in the frozen dept and we've only sold a few of them! No expiration date on the box, so I can't throw them out. Thankfully they're on clearance now. Good riddance to this item.
