You need something fast, quick, and tasty for lunch. Burgers, pizza, and burrito's are not in the game plan. What's a cheap filling alternative in Louisville, Colorado? Chef King! Despite the name, Chef King isn't even remotely an American food joint. Chef King is hard core American- style takeout Chinese food. Yummy!

Chef King sits in a non-descript location between a King Soopers and a Big Lots. Don't let the storefront fool you. If you walk in the door at lunchtime Tuesday through Sunday, you'll see a steady parade of customers coming in and hear the phone constantly ringing with phoned in orders. Louisville and Lafayette residents are dedicated Chef King patrons. Unfortunately Chef King is closed on Mondays.

The best way to order from Chef King is to phone in an order about 20 minutes ahead of time. That way it can be packaged and ready to go when you walk in the door. If you do a walk-in order, that can be pretty speedy at non-peak times. When placing your order, you'll need to be on your toes. You may find that it's hard to understand the staff's spoken English. They're patient and friendly and the food is more than worth the challenge.

Chef King has all the standard American-style Chinese food favorites. They may have a few that you've never had before. If you don't feel like being adventurous, order your standard fare. If you're feeling daring, open the menu close your eyes and blindly stick your finger on the menu. You can't go wrong using this method unless you are a vegetarian. Vegetarian items however are available on the menu.

Lunchtime is the best time to go to Chef King. That's when they run the lunch specials. These include one entrée, a choice of steamed or fried rice, a choice of hot & sour soup, wonton soup or egg drop soup, an egg roll, and a crab cheese fried wonton. All at an attractive price. Generous portions guarantee leftovers for dinner.

If you stroll in at dinner, the Chef King Specials on the menu are guaranteed to meet your expectations. When ordering a la carte, the menu is divided into five different sections. Dishes are generally divided according the meat used - beef, poultry, pork, vegetarian, and seafood. There are two additional categories titled Healthy Food and Noodles.

Once you have your food order, it's probably best to head home, back to the office, or a local park for al fresco dining. The seating inside Chef King is limited to four small tables. Be prepared to share a table when dining in. Everyone's friendly so community dining can be a pleasant experience.

If you are yearning for some tasty American-style Chinese food, it's hard to be disappointed with Chef King. It's lunchtime regulars know where the goods are. Chef King is highly recommended.
