Chelsea Clinton Wedding Set for Tonight

Robert Dougherty
Chelsea Clinton's wedding buildup has been unlike many others. But the Chelsea Clinton wedding itself isn't like many others, considering this is a Clinton wedding. The former First Daughter is finally getting hitched today, to long time boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky in Rhinebeck, New York. The eyes of the tabloids and the political blogosphere are on Rhinebeck, in hopes of getting any glimpses of the famous bride, her family, and their friends. All this and more has made the Chelsea Clinton wedding the social event of the year - with an actual wedding somewhere in between.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place tonight, at the private riverfront estate Astor Courts. Since it is a private estate, and since so many important people will be there, security is bound to be high. All those who want pictures or special glimpses of the Chelsea Clinton wedding will have a hard time.

Nevertheless, buzz has been building all week, to make up for the participants keeping quiet. Press outlets have placed the price tag for the event from about $2-5 million. They have also tried to predict who will be invited, from the Clinton's vast political and entertainment circle.

Chelsea Clinton wedding invites were not sent to the Obamas, or the Gores, however. But President Obama explained on The View that the Clintons likely wanted to keep the focus on the couple. In addition, former President Clinton is already filling the President quota on the guest list.

But the Chelsea Clinton wedding will still have enough stars to make up for it, with rumored appearances from Oprah, Barbra Streisand and Ted Turner. Still, the actual stars of the night are the former First Daughter and her soon-to-be husband.

Marc Mezvinsky is probably the least well known participant of the Chelsea Clinton wedding, despite being the husband. But in spite of Chelsea's fame, her and Mezvinsky have kept things private between them, and stayed out of trouble - in contrast to the elder Clintons' at their worst. But the two have experience in staying under the radar, given their long relationship.

The couple first met each other as teenagers, and attended Stanford together. They have been together five years, and live in New York, where Mezvinsky works for Manhattan hedge fund G3 capital. However, his last job was as investment banker for Goldman Sachs, so that might not sit well with some these days.

Nevertheless, today's Chelsea Clinton wedding will be a huge affair, even if it might be hard for reporters to see it themselves. But tabloids and blogs will give it their best shot, as they have a few hours left before things get under way.
