The six-day search for Chelsea King has ended in the worse case scenario, as many feared it would. With the discovery of a body that is believed to be Chelsea King. The body was discovered near Lake Hodges, which is north of San Diego.

The body was discovered shortly after one o'clock on Tuesday. The human remains were near the water's edge, in a shallow grave. This area is where the search efforts were originally concentrated, in the soft marsh just off the waterway.

Last Thursday, the 17 year old honor student went for a run in a park, a place she ran often. Chelsea never came back from that run and a massive search was put under way.

John Albert Gardner, was arrested on Sunday before the discovery of Chelsea's body. He is a known sex offender and his DNA was found on an article of Chelsea's clothing that had been discovered near the shoreline early in the search.

Gardner is also suspected in attacking another woman jogger in the same area back in December. That jogger luckily escaped from this man. Her report and help in the case is what lead the authorities to the arrest of the sex offender, Gardner. He is also being considered in the disappearance of Amber Leanne Dubois, the 14-year-old girl that went missing more than a year ago.

Gardner is facing forcible rape and first degree murder charges of Chelsea King at his arraignment on Wednesday.

The information given by Candice Moncayo, the woman that Gardner attacked but she managed to escape, was what lead to the arrest of Gardner. She picked him out of a mug shot. Since the incident was in the same area and the same scenario of a jogger, this was a big break for police.

Kayla Moncayo, wrote in the school news paper the story about her sister's attack. This might give you some insight into what Chelsea King faced from this man. Candice Moncayo describes the attack in her sisters story:

"Candice Moncayo was running on the trail when she "was tackled and thrown to the side of the running trail, caught off guard and without warning," the article said.

"I thought he was going to rape me," Moncayo said of the overweight man who tackled her. "So I told him he would have to kill me first."

"He picked her up by the shoulders and began shaking her relentlessly," she went on to say.

"Moncayo fought her attacker, elbowing hard him in the nose. The shot made her assailant pause, allowing her to get out of his grasp and run away."

"All that was left of the ... attacker were the bruises he left on her and the DNA the police were able to swab from her elbow," was how the article concluded the attack.

That's very sad news, how horrible for her family. At least they have good evidence to the person that did this.
