The Daily Mail report this morning highlights just how easy it is for people to bully via social networking. The YouTube video has had more than sixty nine thousand views - that is a large amount of the population judging a teenage girl on little more than rumour.
The aim of this article is not to further highlight the problem of bullying (though it certainly does need highlighting), but to address the accusations made in this disturbing video.
The first thing to address is the suggestion that Cher Lloyd plagiarised another artist's lyrics at Boot Camp. When she performed a version of "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay, she said that she had written her own lyrics for a rap as part of the song. After much research, it appears that she did not write her own lyrics. In fact, she used a song called That Oprah by Swizz Beats and performed some of the original "Viva La Vida" lyrics, as a rap. While this is obviously a bad thing for her to do - this is probably the only part of the video that can be outright proved to be true. The video also claims that she stole the rap from her first live show performance from Professor Green. This makes no sense as at no point did Cher claim to have written it herself.
Next came the "truth" about Cher Lloyd's bullying. No explanation was given in the video, just a small highlighted piece of text from the news story that came out. This would be a fair enough thing to point out - but when the video claims to tell the "truth about Cher Lloyd", it is a one sided take on a story with no evidence to back it up. In no way is it okay to condone the bullying if she actually did it - but to say it is truth without proof is not okay.
Finally - and this is the part where this writer's anger levels skyrocketed - claims that Cher is a "sl*g". Anastacia Baker was a finalist who went as far as the judges' houses round. When she was booted out, she was all over the papers saying that Cheryl Cole is two faced and launched an attack on Cher Lloyd. She said that Lloyd didn't spend the night in their hotel room and also said she wasn't mature. The video then goes on to say that they believe Cher spent the night with an older man - and without going into the disgusting details - believe that this is why she had trouble singing due to a sore throat. The video then attempts to prove their point by showing the clip of Cher at the judges houses NOT Boot Camp - which shows that idea to be quite ridiculous, especially as it claims that the judges houses round happened the following day. Perhaps Lloyd did spend the night with an older man, but that does not back up the suggestions that her illness was related to the supposed event.
While I have not been open in support of Cher Lloyd, this video is founded on un-established "facts", tabloid reports and what appears to be assumptions. Like her or not, making up stories is asinine and unfair.
In order not to spread this video any further, I will not be linking to it, but the links underneath should give you a good insight into what was involved.

Wow, I agree, this sort of gossiping and rumors are so wrong.
Great article Karen =0)
On the one hand it's nice to know that I am not the only one who sees another side to Cher, but I agree with you, so much is built on what are just rumours, and without fact they mean nothing. I hate the way that so much dirt is dished out on people these days, not only by the press, but by social networks too. If Cher is guilty of any of these things, it will come to light soon enough.
