First Love
cool for the times,
we thought so.
puppy love.
just kids who
thought we would
be
forever
together.
Someone told you
peanuts and
2 aspirins in
a Pepsi
would make
me high.
I smoked a whole pack
of Winston's
every week
for a couple
of months
that summer.
while you grew up
fast.
That year
was a lifetime
for two kids
who liked
to read
comic books
and drink Pepsi.
and make love.
Child
I was a Child,
too.
I hope and pray
you have
a
new
life of
less pain
with a new
love
to be
complete.
