Chesterfield Elementary School in North Carolina: A Good Little School

Chesterfield is one of the smaller schools in Burke County. What makes it such a good school is lots of things. First of all, the staff and principal are caring and personable. The staff cares greatly for the overall health and learning of its students. It is not unusual to see parents there all the time. Chesterfield loves getting parents to be involved in all their activities, as well as their classrooms. Any parent is welcomed with outstretched hands. The staff are readily seen taking from their own time to offer services for the child and/or parents. There is an after school Remediation for the children that need supervision and help in doing their homework or studying for a test. The staff are also very friendly. They all have personal conferences , so that your child's problems with school or accomplishments, are drawn to the parents attention. If conferences are not established, the teachers will personally come to your door. This is a way of keeping you in touch, not to invade your life. There is so much that the staff are willing to do in this school for each and every child.

Curriculum for the students challenges their minds and their decision making skills. Each child is encouraged to think and come to a practical, sometimes universal conclusion, on various subject matters. Simply put, the children are to learn as best they can, to be challenged. The other things offered in addition to the standard are things like, media reporting, community solvers, and hall monitor duty. There are chess club, reading book club, sports(baseball,football,cheer leading,soccer,and basketball). Each and every subject, extracurricular project or matter is handled by volunteering parents, or staff. Each and every person always has the child,s best interest at heart. There are things like, Science Fair, Math Counts,Spelling Bee , and Poetry Contests that every child is allowed to enter and there is always someone willing to help and see the child through. Chesterfield strives for student achievement. They are a group of very dedicated individuals who's purpose for being there is to make your child number one.

My many years of involvement as a parent, substitute, and volunteer there has brought the meaning of what school should be to the forefront of my mind. In dealing with Chesterfield, I always get a sense of the love, time, and devotion shown to each and every child that attends. I have noticed children in need and witnessing that special interest that a staff member has taken upon his/herself to help with. There is a strong band between a parent and there child. Each and every person that comes into your child's life should be as dedicated and caring as the staff and Principal at this school. Many times being small in size can be the greatest lever for the child who needs the effort.
