Chevy Impala (Review)

Philippa Lane
The Chevy Impala is a stylish, 4 door, full sized, fuel efficient sedan. The Impala is available in 3 trims and ranges from the LS to the LTZ. There is the entry-level LS, the midgrade LT, and the luxurious, fully loaded LTZ. The Impala has anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control and every Impala has six standard air bags- dual-stage frontal air bags, side-impact air bags for the driver, right front passenger and head curtain side-impact air bags for front and rear occupants.

The LS is fitted with a standard V6, 3.5 liter, 211 horsepower, conciliatory fuel engine. It has a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, which is standard on both the LS and the LTZ.

When Chevrolet first introduced the Impala in 1958, it was meant to be a "prestige" model that the average American could afford. Chevrolet was very successful in accomplishing this, because for more than fifty years, the Impala has become one of America's most well-known and respected vehicles.

Since the year 2000, the modern Impala has been Chevrolet's primary full-sized sedan, able to transport up to 6 people comfortably. All three models have V6 power, front wheel drive, and are very affordable.

The LTZ has heated front seats with leather appointments, a Bose premium 8- speaker sound system, a universal home remote, outside heated power-adjustable mirrors, a rear spoiler, and an XM Radio. Both the Impala LS and LT come with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 211 horsepower, but the LTZ has a 3.9-liter V6 engine.

All of the Impala models have four-speed automatic transmissions, have large passenger and cargo spaces, and provide a smooth driving experience.

The Chevrolet Impala SS, which was offered from 1994- 1996, was short lived and was similar to the Caprice. The SS had a 260 horsepower, 5.7-liter V8 engine and was similar to the Corvette which has large 17-inch wheels and tires, a tuned suspension, a monochrome exterior which was black only in its first year of production. Because of the special features of the SS, these Impalas now have a collectible quality and are still in demand.

There are many Impalas left from previous decades. A lot of the early models of the Impala were frequently considered to be one of America's most popular cars. Throughout the 1960's, the Chevy Impala was on top of the sales charts and in 1965 more than one million were sold.

Although smaller muscle cars began to become more popular and started to eat away at sales of the Impala, the well known and affordable sedan continued to sell in large numbers and became America's best-selling car in 1973.

The new and improved Chevy Impalas have a lot to offer and I highly recommend the model to anyone interested in purchasing a good, reliable, comfortable, and affordable vehicle with a unique, distinctive style and state of the art features.
