Booda is made for all size dogs. It comes in Small to Large and runs about $1.29 to $3.99 per Booda.
Boodas are made of biodegradable cornstarch and no animal by product. No additives or preservatives. This is a good alternative to Greenies or nylon chews. They contain no plastic. The Booda has all natural color and flavors. Depending on your dog they last a reasonably long time.
They are highly digestible so you needn't worry about intestinal obstruction. A major concern with Greenies. There has been a rash of dogs dying from obstruction due to Greenies not dissolving properly in a dogs intestines.
My little Chi likes to carry his around and hide it. My other Chi is totally into eating it. Of course, then he goes after my little guy's treasure. My little guy hides his in plain site he tends to lose a lot of his treat this way.
Gnawing the Booda is intended to help with maintaining good dental health for your pup. It's odor free and does not splinter or crack. I still prefer to take it away when there is only a little nubbin left since I had a near choking incident with my smaller Chihuahua.
These products are made in the USA so no China made worries .Flavors are Yellow is Chicken flavored, Red: Bacon flavored and Beef flavor is Brown
Booda also makes Booda Bones that are made of cornstarch. These are smooth, biodegradable, non staining and free of animal by products. They come in Natural, Chicken, Bacon and Beef. They run about $6.99 for a package of three. These are good for chewing but don't have those little bumps for cleaning the tartar off your dogs teeth.
For more chewing variety if that's what your dog needs there are Nylabone durables in bone shapes or knot shapes. They are made from pure nylon and are fairly long lasting. They are meant for aggressive chewers, just a little something to keep the dog busy while massaging their gums and controlling tartar and the need to chew. There is a Flexibone version for less aggressive chewers. They are odor free. Made in the USA which I always prefer what with the issues with things made in China. They come in different dog friendly flavors like Chicken or Bacon and the original flavor (not sure what flavor that it). These are very reasonable especially since you can depend on them to last a long time.
The small ones run about $2.00 to $2.39 each
There are also rawhide items but I don't use them. I also avoid pigs ears, muscle chews, cow hooves and pig snouts. They gross me out. You can purchase really hard bagels which are good for controlling plaque but then your dog is just eating bread once it breaks down. Dehydrated duck and chicken meat is nice and chewy and easy to carry around but again I'm watching my dogs weight so until he lightens up these have to wait. They arun about $15.99 a pound.
There are endless varieties of dog treats geared towards different size dogs and different needs. It's always good to have a variety of treats and chews to switch out so your dog doesn't get bored and destructive.

Post a CommentGood advice.
One of my neighbors, an elderly lady, was showing me some new cookie biscuits she had found her husband loved. I said, "Those are dog biscuits."
I have a Maltese. Didn't know that about the greenies. I'll have to try the other brands and see how he likes them.
