"Cheyenne:" Atrocious Excuse for a Western

Annie Jean Brewer
When you look at the cover of the movie "Cheyenne" you see a Western about a runaway wife and the men who want to catch her. The trailer hints that there is more but essentially this movie is supposed to be about her running from these men.

I initially rented it thinking it was about a good girl escaping an evil husband and everything he would do to get her back. I was confident that her intelligence and her smarts would see her through.

It was rated R so I waited until the kid was in bed before sitting down to watch this film. It starts out simply enough with her on horseback as she is running away.

This movie quickly went downhill from there. From the cover and the trailer one would think that this woman was the heroine, but the movie seemed to be more about how many men she would sleep with to get what she wanted than anything else.

It was, in my opinion, an attempt to mainstream the porno industry and a miserable failure in that attempt. If she didn't have sex with them she tried to and her character did not show an ounce of the moral fortitude required to turn her into any type of heroine. I found myself more interested in M.C. Hammer's part (and he is definitely NOT actor material in this movie) than in any of the other characters.

I do believe that M.C. Hammer was the only actor in this film that actually tried to act. The poor guy had to carry that movie for me, despite the fact that it is obvious that he needs some more experience before quitting his day job.

The heroine was a tramp, her husband was a creep and other than M.C. Hammer all of the other characters were just...lame.

I managed to watch this movie all of the way, but it was so horrible that I honestly considered asking the rental place for my money back! It was nothing like the Western adventure with a strong female heroine that the movie advertised, did not have a reasonable plot and there was not a person in the film that you could call a hero or heroine! It was seriously like they watered down a porn film and wrote it with a Western background, and the saddest part was that I have seen pornos with more of a storyline than this!

I have watched a lot of lame movies in my time, but of all of them this one made me feel as if I had gotten ripped off by the rental price. I felt like the movie was nothing it claimed to be and more about sex than any plot it claimed to have.

For the record I am not a prude but the sex in this movie did not carry the attempted story line whatsoever. I rented what I thought was a video about a strong woman against her evil husband and discovered a tramp trying to sleep with the world to accomplish her goals. It was a serious disappointment.

I am in cimpletely agreement about the comment on having seen pornos with better plots! Same here. I appreciate the warning and would like to add to the list Dracula 3000, The Big Labrowski and Ghosts of Mars. Hell... I've seen better grade B movies!
