Chez Violette Opens in Rogers Park

I visited Chez Violette on a fluke. While visiting one of our business vendors, we drove by this brand new restaurant, located at 2311 West Howard Street in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, and decided to give it a try. I had never eaten at a Haitian restaurant, nor was I familiar with Haitian food. As soon as we sat down, I was impressed with this restaurant because Violette, herself took our order and was so kind and gracious. I ordered the Chicken with the Caribbean spices and my boyfriend ordered a type of fried pork. Next time I go back, I might try the puff pastry stuffed with spinach, celery, green pepper and carrots, that I wished I would have tried the first time.

With our entrees, we also tried the red beans and rice and the Haitian slaw. The slaw was hot and spicy, but delicious. The amazing food, in combination with the hospitality of Violette and her husband, made eating there a wonderful experience. In addition to the great food and service, the restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms. We could also get a glimpse into the kitchen from our table, which also was seemed to be run very efficiently. I also enjoyed hearing the staff speak French. If you would like more information on Chez Violette, you can call them at 773-961-7272.
