Chicago Billboard Raises Eyebrows, Concerns

Racy Billboard, Some Say, Un-dignifies Lawyers

A local Chicago law firm has created quite a stir with its most recent ad campaign. The lawyer, Corri Fetman, has placed a billboard in the area known as the "Viagra Triangle" portion of Chicago with two scantily clad models, one female and one male, with the slogan "Life is Short. Get a Divorce" written underneath it. The billboard has created a huge controversy and once again raised questions about what people should be allowed to publicize and advertise for their business.

The area is know as the "Viagra Triangle" due to the large number of older gentlemen who have moved into the area in recent years and who routinely pick up much younger women. The pictures themselves have raised questions as the billboard shows a woman's cleavage clad in lingerie and a bare-chested man with six-pack abs on the other side. Other critics are saying the billboard simply promotes divorce.

According to Fetman, " The message really is that life is very, very short, and you need to be honest with yourself and have some personal integrity. If you are unhappy, take some action and do something about it."

Others in the area have not been as willing to accept that as a reason.

"If you plan on getting divorced why get married?" Said one restaurant owner.

Another man told reporters, "It shows lack of commitment."

Some other lawyers are also stating the billboard further discredits a profession already the butt of too many jokes and jibes.

"Lawyers already have a bad name," said Karen McNulty of the Womens Bar Association. "It takes lightly the issue of divorce. It's more disappointing than shocking."

Fetman has simply stated, as many who have started controversy with the idea that free speech means you can print anything, that if you don't like the billboard, you don't have to look at it. Fetman has promised that the law firm will put up an even racier billboard very soon.

Well, I guess there have been worse publicity stunts than this. It seems to be working for them.
