Chicago Cubs Will Have to Wait Another Year Before Challenging for the World Series Title

Bruce Bostwick
Once again the Cubs find themselves in a predictable state where they don't contend for the playoffs and have yet another season of disarray. The team hasn't the World Series since 1908 having the longest drought of not having a championship in Baseball Season and perhaps of all the major sports. This team has not even made it to the World Series since 1945. That is a huge drought and how could this team continue to be the way they are. When they are expected to compete, they either do so or get knocked out of the playoffs or they just play bad baseball. It really makes no sense whatsoever. It just can't keep going on for the other side of Chicago. While the White Sox won the World Series 2 years ago, this team however has struggled to even get they're being close in 2003 only to let it slip by. Excuses have been made that a fan cost them the playoffs but that really is just a minor reason. The real reason was because they choked when the situation called for them to step up to the plate and win when they were up 3 games to 2. Is there such thing as a curse? There seems to be curse called The Curse of the Billy Goat. That one is interesting and really new to someone like me.

The Cubs have the nickname "The Lovable Losers" since people love them but they always seem to keep losing. This team had promise and perhaps potential to go far and maybe get into a World Series for the 1st time since the end of World War 2. Could this team not be used to each other so much as to why this franchise has not gotten as far as they possibly good? It is possible because sometimes when players get used to playing as a team, it is an adjustment period and once that is figured out, usually what comes next is after a team is used to each other, and a team generally starts to play good. Injuries have played a factor so it could be that they need to figure out why they get injured too much and if they're too injury-prone, they could possibly retire leaving the team some room to work on improving themselves with either there talent from the Minor Leagues or going for free agents.

Perhaps the issue is just plain bad management decisions. It really doesn't matter whom the people in charge higher. Truth be told, this team could have the greatest manager ever but it may not make a difference if the players aren't adapting to his style that well. It could be time for a new General Manager if he can't seem to turn this team into a consistent playoff team. It could very well be time for someone else to take over and buy the team from the current owner and put the money into making this team play like a well-oiled machine. Perhaps maybe a new strategy needs to come into play and it could very well be watching a movie that had a similar team of disarray and no hope of a championship and see how it can relate to them. Maybe that could do the trick and turn them around. Only time will tell. Regardless of this season, they will not make the playoffs making it 99 years of no World Series Title. The Cubs should not hope to look to make it 100 years of no World Series Title continuing the longest drought in Baseball History. The Cubs have a chance to do something great, they just have to seize that opportunity and not let it slip away like they've done season after season.

I'm not a Cubs fan, but I'd love to see them win the Central.

Thanks for the resonse. At the time of writing it, they were further behind so they've caught up. It is true they can end up in the playoffs this year, I guess only time will tell.

4.5 games out in the Central and 4 games out in the wildcard is hardly out of the playoff picture. I am by no means a Cubs fan but they are getting better and the Brewers are not playing as well as they were to start the year. With the Cubs lineup they could find themselves in the playoffs this year. Either way it is too early to write them off.
