Cubs fans the world over have never given up on their team no matter the mess up or lack of wins. No matter how close or how far they have gotten Cubs fans are loyal but still very afraid that with as well as they seem to be doing this year that it will all be for naught because they will make it to the series and than lose in the end.
In previous years where they made it to the World Series there were stories that the reason they lost was due to many different things and none of them involved the capability of the players. In 1945 it was said that they lost because of a bar owner cursing the team for not allow him to bring his beloved goat to the game. They also believed that another year they made it to the World Series that lost because somehow a black cat had managed to get itself onto the field and hissed at the coach of the Chicago Cubs. All beliefs based on superstitions. Question is whether the superstitions are causing the Chicago Cubs to lose or are the Chicago Cubs allows the superstitions to influence them causing them to lose.
Last night the Cubs lost to Cincinnati; they scored 2 in the 4th but couldn't pull forward after that. However the game previous the Cubs were down by two but scored 3 home runs in the 9th inning. All throughout the season the Cubs have been almost constantly leading the pack but not by much they cannot seem to manage to distance themselves significantly yet. They will lead by a half a game or maybe even two and than fall back. It is starting to look like they may make it to the World Series and Cub fans are waiting with baited breath but will it again be snatched from Chicago's grasp?
The Cubs are still out in first leading by one game and with less than a dozen games to go 2007 maybe the year the Cubs make to the World Series yet again. We all have to wait to see whether the Cubs can pull through and break their losing streak, and make every Cub fan deliriously happy to be able to see it within their lifetime.
