Chicago Is ... My Kind of Town

The Windy City

D.K. Bernhard
Chicago, the best city in Illinois, in the Midwest, in the United States, in the World. Chicago is the 'nice' big city in the U.S. Not as rush, rush, rush as New York, and not as ... odd as Los Angeles. In one day you can find a multitude of cultures, races, and religions not found in other, less diverse parts of the country.

Chicago, at the tip of Illinois boasts a few of the tallest buildings in the world, a robust public transportation system that rivals any on earth, and without a doubt the best pizza in the world, too. Now Italians and New Yorkers alike may disagree with that statement, but they are all different tastes than a Chicago Deep Dish pizza. I could also argue that Chicago's Philly Cheese Steak is better than those found in Philadelphia.

Your whirl wind tour of Chicago includes a day tripping on LSD (Lake Shore Drive that is), while you visit the Museum of Science and Industry, the Field Museum, the Shed Aquarium, and the Adler Planetarium, all within walking distance of each other. Heck, you can even buy a museum pass which is valid for all of them, also!

When you are all museumed out, you can go downtown where you will hit up Water Tower Place and the Magnificent Mile for shopping, and then on to Millennium Park where you can take in a show in an open air theater and stare at a giant, ultra polished sculpture.

Your next trip will take you the length and breadth of Chicago, where you will jump on the train to go see a Bear's Game. The Red Line will take you through the subways of Chicago, a ground level experience, and the ever popular "El", the train that travels over the streets of Chicago. When you get back onto the train, head over to Clark and Lake, grab some "Nuts on Clark", and hop onto the Blue Line which will take you past the suburb of Rosemont to the O'Hare airport. Coming back from the airport, you will take a quick bus ride from the Rosemont stop to Giordannos, to get the best deep dish pizza in existence.

Chicago is an amazing city with an infinite amount of cultures, and neighborhoods exemplifying those cultures, every time you turn around. Home to world known museums, restaurants, buildings, and more, Chicago, Illinois is truly the best city in the Midwest.
