Chicago Lights Program Wants Your Help

The Chicago Lights program, is a community outreach organization that is located at the Fourth Presbyterian Church. The church, located at 126 East Chestnut Street in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, is where most of the volunteering opportunities are held, but some are held at area schools.

I first heard about this volunteering opportunity when a friend of mine invited me to Carnaval. This event is being held on March 4, 2011 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Chicago. In addition to tutoring, mentoring and helping families in need, Chicago Lights needs volunteers to help with Carnaval.

If you want to volunteer for the Carnaval event, you can help at the silent auction table and help patrons place bids and check on their items. If you are unable to attend the event, you can also help out on March 6, 2011 to pack up items and get them ready for removal from the hotel. My friend told me that if I wanted to volunteer for the Carnaval, I would need to wear "cocktail attire."

Also, volunteers aren't permitted to eat or drink during their shift. Chicago Lights will provide a dinner for the volunteers at a different time. This sounds like a fun event, and I understand that the volunteer opps are filling up fast, so you might want to give them a call to get on board before the slots fill up.
