The museum is located at 1134 West Washington Boulevard in downtown Chicago. It is open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday during the hours of 12:30 pm-5 pm.
Do not let the outside of the building fool you. Inside (the somewhat shabby looking museum) there are tons of different pictures, some you look through 3-D glasses to appreciate while others are very much appreciated in plain sight. You can stand and look at each one, from different angles and be amazed for hours on end.
The medical exhibit is truly unique in itself. The most interesting piece I found was the one titled the Lung Tree.
There are so many different holograms housed here it is really hard to put my finger on a favorite. There are also some questionable pictures (who ever thought that Star Wars in a hologram would become art?). The museum does demonstrate how lasers create three-dimensional images, as well as the effect of movement, but everything about these will tell you it is pure art. The collection of hologram's here are from all around the world; although I did find out that quite a few were done locally.
The price for a trip to the Museum of Holography is great. The cost for this wonderful outlook on art is around a mere $5.00; for a bit more you could have a tour guided trip through the museum. People of all ages would find something to hold their interest inside; and if you are into science this really is the place for you. You don't only get the visual of the art but any one of the employee's will be more than gracious to explain any piece to you. They also sell souvenirs here and every time I go I have to take something back with me.
In my opinion the Museum of Holography is one of the best little museums in Chicago. It is not one of the busier museums but it makes its place as one of the more interesting ones. If you are ever in Chicago I suggest taking a little time out to visit this wonderful, little museum. There aren't many in the world so it would be a very unique experience for anyone.

I love to read and even more love to write. If there is something to learn out there I am up to my elbows in it. Researching just about everything is only one of my many interests. View profile

Also, your reporting is biased if not misleading. "Hours and hour's [sic]" of fun is not contained within this tiny museum. It's fun and cute, but an hour of fun - two max. It's also definitely not in "downtown," as it's West of the Kennedy! Disappointing article.
