Chicago's Vegan Restaurant Alice & Friends is Now Loving Hut Restaurant

If you love vegan food (soy duck, soy beef, soy chicken, soy ham) and everything else you can imagine as a tasty dish for the vegan food lover, Chicago's Alice & Friends is the place to be. But Alice & Friends has taken on a whole new look this fall.

Alice & Friends made several changes. The restaurant, located at 5812 N. Broadway, doesn't have the purple exterior anymore. Now the outside is brown brick and the interior inside doesn't have that dim lounge feel. Bright yellow paint, bright lights and a new cashier stand greet you when you walk in the entrance. Quotes about being a vegan like "Destiny is in your hands, You can become whatever you want with determination" and "Honoring all life, maintaining natural balance" line the walls. Alice & Friends restaurant has almost doubled in size, and Alice & Friends is now called Loving Hut.

Loving Hut is more like a fast food restaurant, and there are no waitresses. If you've been to Noodles & Company, it has a laidback counter order environment. Loving Hut customers get their own menus, order up front with the cashier and the food is served to the table by table number. However, unlike the old Alice & Friends, you don't leave the food on the table for pick-up. Loving Hut restaurant visitors drop the food off in a nearby bin. The wicker chairs and wooden tables have been replaced by white and yellow dining sets, and Loving Hut has a big screen against one wall to replace the small TV that used to be by the cash register.

Restaurant hours that were usually from 4 pm to 10 pm Monday through Friday and 12 pm to 9 pm on Saturday will change mid-November to 12 pm to 9 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday. Loving Hut is also actively promoting "going green" too via the televised programs and the restaurant atmosphere.

But one thing didn't change. The food is still delightfully vegan and fresh. For those who are interested in trying something new and checking out just what keeps vegetarians and vegans so enthused about vegan food, Loving Hut is proof. Replace sushi rolls with California rolls (avocado, rice, cucumber, avocado and seaweed). Replace buffalo wings with unchicken drumsticks. Himalayan style BBQ is a great taste test to find out whether you like the unbeef. If you're into spicy food, the Spicy BBQ or Runaway Potato meal is ideal. And for those who are wondering just what tofu is, the Lemon Tofu dish is highly recommended. But there's plenty more if you're willing to try something new at one of the healthiest restaurants in Chicago.

Go veg. Go green. Help the planet by checking out a vegan restaurant today.
