Interested in spending 4th of July in the Windy City? Great choice! According to List After List, Chicago is named 4th on the Top 10 places to be during July 4th. With three days of celebration, Chicago has plenty in store for people with its numerous fireworks around the city!

What goes on in July?
Gather your loved ones and head to your favorite neighborhood for 4th of July fireworks and activities! Don't worry about weather. July's average weather is 63 F- 84 F, with precipitation of about 4 inches. Be warned, Taste of Chicago starts June 28th and lasts until July 8th, so it may be a bit crowded, but stick around for the winning food.

Fireworks
Chicago launches its main fireworks display on Independence Eve, July 3rd. Still, over 1,000,000 people arrive and with plenty of room, it isn't too crowded. Feel free to mingle and meet people at your designated celebration spot. Most viewers watch anywhere on the shoreline from Navy Pier to Soldier Field for the greatest view possible. Before fireworks start, you may decide to walk along Navy Pier and enjoy the view.

Many fireworks are hosted throughout the entire weekend. Navy Pier hosts another fireworks display on July 4th. Here are some neighborhoods' schedules for fireworks:

Addison - In its Community Park, join the fireworks display at dusk on July 4th. Music will be played!

Chicago - At U.S. Cellular Field, enjoy the White Sox fireworks on July 4th following the Sox game.

Elgin - Fireworks will take place at the Elgin Sports Complex at 9:30 on July 4th. A free concert will begin prior to the fireworks at 7pm.

Lombard - Starting at 9:30pm on July 4th, a fireworks display will be held at its Madison Meadow Park, accompanied by music performances and food.

Northbrook - A float-filled parade will take place at 2:30 pm on July 4th, followed by fireworks at 9:30pm.

Warrenville - A celebration will take place at Cerny park at 5-10 pm on July 3rd. It is complete with a parade, food, and fun. Fireworks will begin at 9:30pm.

Winnetka - At Duke Child's field, a fireworks displace will begin at 9:15pm on July 4th, along with recorded music.

You may also choose to take a Spirit of Chicago weekend cruise on July 3rd-July 4th. Costing about $120 per person, the cruise provides DJ entertainment, amazing view of the fireworks, and an immense open bar and buffet.

Whatever you decide to do on July 4, enjoy and celebrate freedom!

Yes I forgot! I heard fireworks might be canceled where I always go on the 3rd - Maine East in Park Ridge due to the economy:(

Don't forget Lisle's Freedom Festival, with hot air balloons flying July 2 - July 4 (weather permitting). Thanks for the July 4th update.

It sounds like there's a lot going. Visiting Chicago for the first time ever at the end of July - can't wait. Great article!

Chicago sounds like a fun place. And I know it is because I lived in Chicago land for five years.

We used to live in Milwaukee and went to Chicago twice a month. I love Michigan Avenue, Northbrook, and Winnetka. Wish I could be there for these events. :-)

This year should be one of the nicest in Chicago. Normally the Taste is the hottest weekend on the calendar, but it came early this year and this week should be fantastic for revelers. Nice article.
