Chick-fil-A Holds Shoe Box Drive to Benefit Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child

Pat Anthony
Chick-fil-A is assisting Samaritan's Purse collect gift boxes for children overseas. In order to help with this project, those interested are asked to fill a shoe box with items children may need. This is part of Operation Christmas Child.

Items requested by Chick-fil-A and Samaritan's Purse include: Toys, hard candy if it is double bagged, hygiene supplies and school supplies.

Items that should not be included: Samaritan's Purse asks that war toys not be given. Please do not include perishable items such as medication, liquids or chocolate. Breakable items should not be packed in the shoe boxes.

Anyone wanting to help with Chick-fil-A's efforts may also use a small plastic container if a shoe box is not available. The box can be wrapped if preferred, however the lid must be done separately.

Label boxes girl or boy. The packages will be given to one child, and is not intended to be a shared gift. Therefore, items should not be mixed. For more details about labeling, please visit the site for Samaritan's Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.

Here is where it gets a little touching for some. Everyone donating a box for this Chick-fil-A project is also asked to donate $7.00 to cover the cost of shipping the packages. Unfortunately agencies such as Samaritan's Purse have to pay for shipping, and there is no money in the budget for this.

Anyone donating a shoe box to their local Chick-fil-A will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. The drive is in November only, from the 15th through the 22nd as part of Operation Christmas Child. However, Samaritan's Purse is able to accept gift such as this at any time. Simply ship the shoe boxes with items as listed to 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC, 28607.

Those donating can follow the box they give online. To learn more about this please use the Samaritan's Purse link listed below. Most people are very familiar with Samaritan's Purse, a Christian Ministry that helps people throughout the year around the globe.
