Chikezie's American Idol Mistakes Start with Wardrobe

Chikezie's performance last night on American Idol left much to be desired. The first mistake he made was in his wardrobe choice. I'm not sure what it looked like in person but viewing over the television screen it looked like it was dirty, rumpled and ill fitting. This first impression did not lend towards a favorable ear when listening to him sing.

Chikezie's performance was not consistent. His performances have been consistently not consistent and tonight was no different. He is not able to hit all the notes in a song. He can come on strong and hit the big notes but the softer ones give him a great deal of trouble. Last nights performance was no different. His song choice "If Only for One Night" was not very good. I did not recognize the song so I'm not sure what is was supposed to sound like. I did not like his rendition of it anyway. His movements around the stage were awkward and not believable. He would be better off if he stood still and just sang with the mike. It seemed as if he could not do both.

I had to agree with only two of the judge's comments this time. Randy did not love it and Simon said the performance was not great. Paula did like it, maybe they can hear different sounds and ranges when it is live. I don't think that Chikezie has a chance of becoming the next America Idol. He certainly has a long way to go to beat David Cook. I think while his voice is great he has a ways to go to get good control over it and his performance. Having said all of that, Chikezie is one of the most likable of the contestants and his personality is always enjoyable to watch and listen to.
