Child Artists of Nickelodeon and Disney

What Will Their Future Bring?

Jane Vee
Most child stars are forgotten, to be heard from no more until they are much older or until they are reminisced about on "Where are they now?" television shows. Disney and Nickelodeon may have a lot of has been actors before much longer. What will become of these young people?

How many years can these child actors be in "school" on their television shows if their show is to grow? They might be able to pull it off for a while, but when the actor is 20 years old, do you think they will still want to be in the ninth grade?

Taking a look at Miley Cyrus, who played Hannah Montana if you do not have children and your head has been buried underground, as an actress for Disney. As Hannah Montana comes to an end, yes, it is over, Miley Cyrus has been gearing up to make money singing. As we have seen over the past couple of years, she certainly can dress the part of a performer.

She has been wearing outfits that most decent adults would not wear, but they were performing outfits. The dresses that all have a v-neck ending at Miley's belly were a little much for any teen or young adult. Then, there was the black shorts and bikini top with jacket that looked as if she were wearing tights to hold her thighs in place. The girl will never make it as a model, but time will tell if she can perform.

Another child actress that is hanging on tight is Selena Gomez. She is another Disney star. Selena Gomez plays on Wizards of Waverly Place. It's only a matter of time for Wizards of Waverly Place to go off the air as well because it is based on three children. Fortunately, Disney thought this out and the children are not in school. The children are competing to be chosen as the one wizard of the family.

Selena has been in several movies and is trying to get her singing career off the ground. Selena's best friend by her own admission on interviews of Princess Protection, Demi Lovato, plays on Sonny with a Chance.

Demi Lovato started off with the Jonas Brothers in Camp Rock. Unlike the Jonas Brothers who have a stable music career, the other Disney stars seem to be going from acting to singing.

Nickelodeon child stars are having the same situations as the Disney stars. Most of the child stars are rocking away as they get older. A quick look at Miranda Cosgrove's biography and you will see she grew up in front of the cameras. Now, at a ripe old age of sixteen, she has expanded her resume to include music. Her co-star Drake Bell from Drake and Josh, tried his hand at music as well.

The new Nickelodeon Show True Jackson VP stars Keke Palmer. Keke is familiar with the big screen as well as television. She has also launched a music career.

When and if the acting jobs dry up, hopefully their music careers will take off. With so many young adults trying their hand at music though, it makes you wonder what they will do after that career ends. Most performers are eventually replaced with younger, fresher faces. They should enjoy their stardom while they can and hopefully, they will put money away for tomorrow.

I don't think that just because you can act that you qualify to sing. There are a lot of young actors out there who seem to think these things are interchangeable. Good article.
