Child Pornographer Turns Out to Be a Federal Defender and Ex-ACLU Head
Mainstream Press Bias Factor Shows in Arrest of Charles Rust-Tierney
However, it appears there was a real reason to be worried as on February 23, 2007, Charles Rust-Tierney, Federal Defender and former head of the ACLU in Virginia were found to be part of the problem and not the solution. Tierney was found possessing numerous CD's and had credit card links to websites where young girls were depicted being violently raped.
The good news is that periodically, Federal Agencies reach out and touch someone with their hands in that nasty pile of photos and video's of children posing, getting abused, getting raped and more. In some cases, as hard as it may seem to believe, children and adults are being killed for entertainment. This is known as "snuff films" and was the subject of the movie 8MM with popular actor Nicholas Cage.
Rust-Tierney history was obviously flagged for a Federal surveillance under Operation Predator, which was launched in the summer of 2003 by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE). This investigation went after folks in the U.S. and internationally as tolerance for violent child porn is much higher in Europe.
What might have attracted them in the first place was is December 1998 campaign where he successfully argued against restricting Internet access in public libraries in Virginia, writing, "Recognizing that individuals will continue to behave responsibly and appropriately while in the library, the default should be maximum, unrestricted access to the valuable resources of the Internet".
Those resources include blocking ANY access to child pornography in the libraries of Loudon County, Virginia for example.
WHY no news about Rust-Tierney on the Mainstream Press?
To his credit, one of the first mentions of Rust-Tierney's transgression was on the Bill O'Rielly show. O'Rielly regularly campaigns hard against individuals, media outlets and even state governments like Vermont whose judicial system is seen as soft on child molesters, abusers etc.
The bias factor was apparently on pretty strong with this case as mentions of Rust-Tierney on the left-wing side were relegated to a small one in the Washington Post and nothing in the NY Times, NBC, CBS and CNN. ABC News did mention it on their website, but there was noticeably absent word from their story...that word was RAPE. To quote ABC:
Rust-Tierney admitted to investigators that he had downloaded videos and images from child pornography websites onto CD-ROMs, according to the complaint. The videos described in the complaint depict graphic forcible intercourse with prepubescent females. One if the girls is described in court documents as being "seen and heard crying", another is described as being "bound by rope."
This was just forcible intercourse, not rape right? If you don't think that this slight diversion from such an inflammatory word is meaningless than you might talk to an attorney or someone who writes the laws. It is all about words and ABC obviously choose the words "forcible intercourse" over rape for a reason.
Certainly, with the attendant exposure by others in the press, this eventually will have to reluctantly addressed by the mainstream press in order to catch up. It must also be noted ABC did describe some of content of Rust-Tierney's tawdry CD collection.
On February 28th, Rust-Tierney was to be formally charged and likely let out on bail. Was there any media exposure of that event, in a word "no". This obvious inactivity will draw the attention of many and allegations of an unfair liberal, left-wing media will once again be thrown at the elite of the New York Times, CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN to name of few.
A fair comparison to illustrate the bias has already been drawn by many regarding the media flap over the conservative preacher Ted Haggard's being exposed by a male prostitute several months ago. It was practically the Anna Nicole Smith article of the week, with hourly exposure, interviews with people in the neighborhood, and major media attention.
The fact is that Rust-Tierney is not getting the attention now, but has a real background working hard to allow the child pornography industry to prosper in the U.S. So much so that recently, the office of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, issued what is called a laudatory proclamation for Colt Studios, a gay porn outfit that was honored on February 23 on the 40th anniversary of the studio's existence.
Nationwide attention was focused on this proclamation, once again by Bill O'Reilly who belittled the Mayor until a response came his way. Eventually, the Mayor's office would do damage control by saying the Mayor really didn't sign it, his staff did and he really didn't know anything about it. However, in a brief interview the Mayor did state his staff takes cares of stuff like that, but he didn't think it was such a big deal anyway.
How big a deal is it?
The international connections to this industry are both extensive and frightening. While over 350,000 children are kidnapped each year in the United States, about 300,000 of that number are related to family disputes. The remaining 50,000 or so end up as sex slaves, being part of child porn, druggies or worse.
The mainstream networks have fallen flat on this issue and this reluctance could certainly be construed a some kind of complicity by many out there who feel some the elite have enough of a lack of morality to embrace anything.
At some point more child porn production links will be drawn to those in the either judicial, legal, government of media circles and this will be met again by bias on one side and outrage on the other.
In a society where anything goes, everything eventually will. Be aware, be very aware your children are depending on YOU!

Post a CommentWhy are you trying to deflect attention away form the fact that this story is unreported because the perpatrator is leftwing and a minority? What do preists have to do with anything?
Excellent article. It is ashame how some people we should have trust in are the worst offenders, Priests for example.
Another great read. It's really sad to see sickos like this pop up, but I can't really say I'm surprised this guy was once with the ACLU, or that the mainstream media has been so lax in reporting this. People like this really sicken me. Excellent article.
Very good! Try and make it a bit more easier to read next time. But great subject matter. Of course I'd agree that I wish I wasn't even seeing this subject matter. However not for the same reasons as mainstream media which choose to try and entertain us these days rather than report news exposing things such as this. Yes they will have to play catch-up. This one isn't going away.
