Many parents like that their child cries for them when they drop them off. This actually is a good thing. It shows they have developed an attachment. And often the child settles down to play soon after the parent leaves. Children learn to do things for attention, whether it is crying or nagging or anything else. If a child gets attention for doing good in school he is more likely to stay
Life isn't always easy, but having manners can really make life more agreeable. Raising a child with good manners will do a lot for his self esteem when he gets older and can succeed because of it. Manners will help you get places money and degrees will not.
Spoiling a child and giving him everything except a moral compass does the child no good. He will be traumatized when not everyone likes him as much as you do. Even if they are really pretty, there are many spoiled children who have difficulty adjusting to working life. They need to learn to work hard and apply themselves so they will be self confident and self assured.
Brains is important, but if you don't care about anything, you are sure to be miserable. Just don't let caring about issues rob you of productivity. You can't build a $5,000 well if you are broke.
Growing up, I didn't want an obsession, I was good at school, but I was told I could be a model. Then I became obsessed with clothes and working out. Ah, the impulsivity of youth. No, I don't encourage young women to try to be models. I think it is bad for them. And they could do so much more if they applied themselves. Models usually wind up doing heroin and many of them have tried to commit suicide.
No, better encourage our young women to be conservative and work hard at something than to use their looks which will fade. There are many young women who are bad at relationships now days. There aren't a lot of models with great careers and many women get anorexic trying to be like them.
I never even knew I was a genius because more people cared about how I looked than what I thought. And even though I try to look nice, I like the conservative approach to life of working hard and waiting for a serious relationship than having a wild fling on the weekend. Although I haven't made tons of money yet, I do work hard. And I like myself, so I don't go out with everyone that wants me. Which is fine with me because I see so many women in wrecked relationships and I wonder what will make mine different.
You need to be good to your family. So much can be said for happy child hoods. Often times too much or not enough money gets in the way of a good family. And middle class children are often times better adjusted than the neurotic upper crust that I've met.
