Child Sex Slavery

The Truth

Kaitlyn Joseph
There is an unobserved problem in the world. It is not as big as AIDs but it is worse because not many people have heard about it and of the people who have heard about it less than half have done something about it. What is the problem that I speak of? The problem is child sex slavery.

Child sex slavery has become rampant in many third world countries. Some families even sell their youngest children to brothels to be able to feed the rest of the family because the little children cannot pull their own weight yet. These children are then abused, tortured, sold, bought, raped, STD's, disease, starvation, and so on.

This unfortunately does not only happen in third world countries. There are places within the United States that children are sold as sex slaves. There have been houses in New York that were busted for child sex slavery and many other houses and brothels that have not made headlines due to law enforcement keeping them secret.

The international sex trade is huge. American girls go for much more money overseas than local girls. The Lifetime movie "Human Trafficking" is on track with what happens in America and in other countries when it comes to sex slavery. It paints a very real picture of what these children have to deal with when they are slaves. It is a hard movie to swallow, so it might be better for children and young teenagers to sit this one out.

The horrors that these children (and even young men and women) have to face, is something that no one should have to endure. There are organizations that are setup to help get people out of slavery. The problem is not with the organizations, the problem is that hardly anyone sees this problem and devotes their time and money to it.

One organization that is solely devoted to getting children out of the sex trade is Love146. Love146 was founded by two men who went to the Philippines and saw firsthand the devastation of sex slavery when they encountered some of the children. They set up the organization and made safe houses for the children that they were able to purchase out of the sex trade. These houses allow the children to be re-educated, receive counseling, and meet other children who have shared the same ordeal. Love146.org has all of the information about sex slavery and how people can get involved to help out.

Please consider helping out. Do some research, the information is there but people are not seeing it. Find an organization that you feel you can support or volunteer your time. These children are crying out for love and for life, it is our choice to do something.
