it took your television set about 3 or 4 minutes to "warm up", and you could actually "feel" the tv when it finally came on?
when television stations actually signed off the air? I think I remember them playing the national anthem or something like that.
when there was no MTV? I think we watched Friday Night Videos and wished that it would stay on all o the time.
when Michael Jackson was black, and he moonwalked across the stage to "Billie Jean" on Motown's 25th Anniversary Special?
Wendy and Lisa joined Prince's band "The Revolution"? Hey, wasn't there also some dude in the band who used wear a mask and a surgical gown or was I trippin?
Franken Berry and Boo Berry Cereals turned your morning milk pink and blue respectively? Do they still make those?
we plastered our lips with Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers, and doused ourselves with Love's Baby Soft Perfume, and Jean Nate cologne splash.

watching tv shows and specials like Battle of the Network Stars, ABC Afterschool Specials, CBS Storybreak Specials, PBS Wonderworks, Degrassi Junior High (original), Read All About It, 3-2-1 Contact, Electric Company, Alphabet Soup, SCTV, Dr. Shrinker, Electra Woman & Dyna Girl, Sigmund the Sea-Monster, The Great Space Coaster, and The New Zoo Revue ?
popular soap opera couples Luke & Laura, Greg and Jenny, Bo & Hope, Jessie & Angie, and Alan & Monica? Am I the only one who remembers that Luke actually raped Laura on the dance floor in the beginning? I always thought that it was so weird how that part was completely overlooked.
I could go on and on for days on end, but alas I must return to my current reality here in the twenty-first century. I hope you all enjoyed sharing in my walk down memory lane. Peace. P.S. One more thing - Who remembers when they tried to give us "New Coke"? We wasn't having it! LOL!

Post a CommentI do remember many of these things! I had forgotten about how televisions used to sign off the air. I remember all of those one and two hit wonders too. You brought back some good memories. Boy, I'm getting old. :-)
ABC afterschools specials were the bomb, I would run like a track star to get home in time to watch it. A lot of these really take me back. This was a very nice article!
