Children's day celebration in India is marked on 14th November, in remembrance of India's first Prime minister's Birth day. But world wise children's day is celebrated on 20th November. As day to celebrate childhood.

Bal Diwas
In Hindi Bal Diwas means children's day. It is commemorated to mark the birth anniversary of independent India's first Prime minister-Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Pandit Jawaharlal Lal Nehru was born on November 14 1889 in Allahabad. After his death in year 1963, his birthday has been celebrated as children's day. The reason of celebrating his birthday as children's day is because of his love towards children.

Pandit Nehru was born in a Kashmiri Brahmin family. His was the only son of a prominent advocate and early leader of the Indian independence movement Motilal Nehru and Swarup Rani. At early age of 15teen Pundit Nehru was send to England at Harrow, Cambridge and the Inner Temple for his higher education and after completion he returned to India in 1912

Jawaharlal Nehru was a prolific writer in English and wrote a number of books like 'The Discovery of India', 'Glimpses of World History', his autobiography, 'towards Freedom' (1936) ran nine editions in the first year alone. Emotional sensitivity and intellectual passion infused his writings, giving them unusual appeal & topicality even today. He was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1955.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru loved children and they affectionately call him as Chacha Nehru. His birthday is observed as Children's Day or Bal Diwas. He believed that children are the future of the nation.

Children's day in India is celebrated on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday as a day of fun and frolic, a celebration of childhood, children and Nehruji's love for them.

Universal Children's Day
Universally, Children's Day is celebrated on 20th of November after 1959 as decided by the UN General Assembly. Basically this day was instituted with the sole aim of promoting communal exchange and understanding among children, as well as to bring about beneficiary action to promote the welfare of children, all over the globe.

Children's Day and New Zealand
In New Zealand On the first Sunday of March every year comes alive with activities and events designed to bring families together and show how important children are in our community.

Children are our future and we should take of them. This is motto of Children's day.

    I had fun celebrating Children's Day a couple of days ago with an orphanage. Good article.
