It is very important that you as a parent take some precautions for the safety of your child when you plan on sending them on a bus. You want to make sure that the child arrives safely to their destination.

There are a variety of reasons why children may need to travel on the bus to certain destinations to meet certain people. It is entirely up to the parent to take all the precautions necessary because no matter the reason that you need to send your child across country on a bus always make sure that they understand certain rules for their own safety.

The first thing you should do as a parent is to make sure that the people on the bus specially the bus driver knows who your child is and where they are going.

Place in our child's pocket your name and address along with the phone number. Instruct the child that they are not to remove this information only if necessary to get help. You should also put down the information of the person to whom they are going to. Make sure that the child understands never to speak to strangers instead ask the bus driver, someone working for the bus company, or a police officer if they need help.

It is best for your child that you send then on an express bus where there are no changeovers. A direct route is always commonplace for a small child to take. Never send your child out on the last bus of the day because if for any reason that bus is detained your child could be stuck in the bus terminal over night without any supervision. No child under the age of 10 should travel alone. It is always best to make sure that your child travels with the companion even if it is a teenager. In this day and age you should provide a cell phone for your child to take with them. Yu check a bag each for your child and let the person on the other end be responsible to pick up the child's luggage. Do not burden your child with a lot of objects to carry. It is highly advisable to provide your child snacks, bottled water and perhaps a game or book to read.

Make sure that your child knows to call you when they have arrived at their destination. Also make sure that the person who is assigned to pick them up at the terminal is dependable. The bus company realizes that children need to travel and they are very good about helping provide safe environment for your child. You do need to make sure that when you're doing the reservations that you let the ticket agen know your child will be traveling alone. You also will need to let them know how old your child is, if your child has any types of sicness, and if your child is capable of asking for directions. In this manner the bus driver, the ticket agents, and other personnel can be helpful to your child making sure they have a safe and enjoyable trip.

We want to express the importance of making sure that your child knows not to speak to strangers, not to go away from the group with strangers, or answer questions that a stranger may give them. More children are kidnapped simply because they tried to help. Most children trust adulst and are not afraid to talk to them. While traveling they must be made aware of the fact that not all adults are trustworthy. The bus company have a very good record of delivering children without losing them, or without the child being harmed. If you would adhear to all safety rules and guidelines provided by the bus companies in most cases your child will have a safe and happy trip.
