Trick-or-treating has been a popular tradition for children in the past. However, visiting homes and asking for treats while wearing costumes is almost completely out of the picture nowadays, especially when you're talking about children's safety. Luckily, there are great trick-or-treat alternatives that children can do on Halloween.

You can host a Halloween costume party and invite your children's friends. Make them wear their best Halloween costumes and inform them that whoever wears the best costume will take home a special prize. Children will be enthralled upon hearing about the prize and they will definitely make an effort to come up with a prize winning costume. Kids will enjoy the idea of having to think and prepare for a special Halloween costume that will make them take home the prize. You can award those who arrived at the party with sweets as a consolation for their efforts.

Aside from having a Halloween costume party for your kids' friends, you can also set up a family get together during Halloween as a family bonding. You can have your lawn decorated with themes for Halloween. This is a fun activity for your children, and not to mention that it is not very expensive. You can add up some lights and plastic pumpkins to make it more attractive and have some barbeque with your family at your lawn.

You can have your children help you cook tasty sweets for Halloween. Usually, most children enjoy helping in the kitchen at their young age. You can make pies and let your children help you in the process. You can also make caramel apples as children have a fierce sweet tooth and they love eating treats. These things are easy to make and at the same time, you are able to spend quality time with your children.

If you'd like to have some thrilling adventures with your children this Halloween season, your whole family can have a tour at one of the popular haunted locations within your area. Book your family to one of the guided tours at certain haunted locations in your area for a different kind of supernatural experience. Just make sure that your children are also into this kind of adventure because it can be traumatic to them if they aren't the adventurous type or are too young.

If your kids aren't into the scary and hair rising adventure, you can also invite them for a visit at an amusement park and enjoy certain rides. This way, they are able to enjoy Halloween even if they don't have to do trick or treat. There are many children friendly events at some amusement parks such as Seaworld in Orlando, Florida.
