Children's Birthday Party Venues on Oahu

Birthday parties are always exciting, especially for children. Parents try their best to make their children's birthdays fun and memorable. Oahu has some of the best places to have birthday parties. Here are some great, unique places to hold your child's next birthday:

1. Waikiki Aquarium

The Waikiki Aquarium is located at 2777 Kalakaua Avenue next to the historic War Memorial Natatorium on Queen's Beach. What child can resist having a birthday surrounded by tropical marine wild life? Party users have all day access to the aquarium galleries, a 7500 gallon "Edge of the Reef" outdoor exhibit, and the Hawaiian Monk Seal Habitat.

The facility can hold up to one hundred guests. The cost is $1500, which includes the facility rental, admission for all your guests, security staff fees, and tables and chairs. To hold a reservation, however, you do have to become a member of the Friends of Waikiki Aquarium, which costs $60 minimum for a membership.

2. Honolulu Zoo

The Honolulu Zoo is located at 151 Kapahulu Avenue, corner of Kapahulu Avenue and Kalakaua Boulevard. The zoo is the perfect place to hold your child's birthday. In recent years, the Honolulu Zoo has undergone numerous renovations and improvements to feature new and exciting exhibits. Children will enjoy beautiful exhibits, especially the petting zoo where they can pet and feed the goats, pigs, llamas, and horses.

Parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays during two sessions: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Parents choose between two different party packages:

The Basic Package includes a half sheet of cake, ice cream, soft drink and water, plates and utensils, a paper craft, a party facilitator, and a guided tour with a fish and turtle feeding. You are able to bring in your own food or purchase from the snack bar. The fee for this package for twenty people is $275, with a $10.00 fee for each additional guest.

The Deluxe Package includes all of the Basic Package but with more perks, such as: a piñata, goodie bags, and a choice of lunch (hot dogs, hamburgers, or pizza). The cost for this package is $375, with a $15.00 fee for each additional guest.

3. Hawaii Children's Discovery Center

The Hawaii Children's Discovery Center is located at 111 Ohe Street, situated next to the Kakaako Park. This is the perfect venue for children. By having your party here, children receive an all day admission to the entire center which houses different play areas that are sure to keep them busy. Little ones from infants to five-year-olds can have fun in the "Tot Spot" which has activities to stimulate their senses. "Fantastic You" allows children to explore inside their bodies and learn how their bodies work. "Your Town" takes them into their community and gives them a chance to explore what it's like to be a fireman, banker, and even a newscaster on camera! Children will learn about old and new Hawaii and what makes this state so unique in "Hawaiian Rainbows". And last, "Your Rainbow World" is a great place to learn about different cultures such as Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.

Parties are held in two-hour intervals from either 10:00 am to 12:00 pm or 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The Center offers two birthday packages:

The first is the Birthday Bash. The fee is $15.00 per person over the age of one. It includes all day admission, a carousel ride for each child, a helium balloon, tables, tablecloths, and chairs.

The second package is the Birthday Extravaganza. It has all of the Birthday Bash perks except that food, paper products, utensils, and a craft activity are included as well. The fee for this package is $20.00 per person over the age of one.

A $75.00 deposit is required to reserve the facility regardless of the package. You are allowed a minimum of ten people to a maximum of fifty. The center also requires a 4:1 child to adult ratio for safety purposes.

4. Ice Palace

One of the most unique places to hold a birthday party in Hawaii is the Ice Palace, which is located at 4510 Salt Lake Boulevard. Children will enjoy a cool break from the hot weather.

Who would have thought that Hawaii has an ice skating rink?

The rental fee is $110.00 for two hours. It includes one reserved table, eight admissions plus skate rental, one sixteen inch pizza (choice of cheese or pepperoni), and two pitchers of drinks. Four or more tables can be reserved at $36.00 per table. The two-hour time limit can also be extended for a fee of $36.00 if time is available that day.

Outside food is allowed in the party area, but guests may also purchase yummy snacks and extras at the snack bar.

5. Jungle River Mini Golf

Jungle River Mini Golf is located at 98-1101 Moanalua Road at the Phase 3 Pearlridge Shopping Center next to Toys'R'Us. Children will have a blast on their newly renovated course on color carpet turf. The tropical environment emulating a rainforest surrounds as they play eighteen holes of golf. There are also video games and children's rides for them to enjoy.

Jungle River offers two package deals:

The Keiki Birthday Party Package offers three hours of golfing fun for guests from six to sixty people. At $13.95 per person, it includes: one round of mini golf, choice of pizza, hot dog, or teri burger, a sixteen ounce soft drink for each, ice cream, and a complimentary pass for a second round of golf.

With the Party Rental Package, you can rent tables for a maximum of three hours. You are allowed to bring your own food. The mini golf group rate is $6.00 per person per round. The following fees apply to the specific amount of guests: for parties up to fifty people - $200.00; parties from fifty-one to seventy people - $250.00; and from seventy-one people to one hundred - $300.00.

For either party package, Jungle River requires a $50 deposit.

6. Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park

The Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park is located at 400 Farrington Highway in Kapolei on one of the driest spots on the island. It offers twenty-five acres of wet and wild fun, a great alternative to the beach! Children will have non-stop all day fun experiencing the park's thirteen exciting water adventures!

Hawaiian Waters offers two birthday packages which both include admission to the park and a shady area reserved all day for the party.

The Splashtastic Kids Birthday Package is $34.99 per person for guests three-year-olds and older. Guests have a choice of two slices of pizza or a jumbo hot dog with potato chips, a small carton fruit drink, birthday cupcakes, and invitations.

The Celebration Party Package costs $31.99 per person and each has a choice of a kalua pork or barbeque chicken entrée, rice, salad, and a fruit drink.
