Children's Christmas Song "On Christmas Eve"

Tammy White
This song is entitled "On Christmas Eve" and is sung to the tune of the popular nursery rhyme "London Bridge is Falling Down". You can sing all the verses, just your favorites or create a few of your own! There are also actions included for the end of each verse.

Christmas lights are shining bright,
Shining bright, Shining bright.
Christmas lights are shining bright,
On Christmas Eve. (open and close your fists like twinkling lights)

Children try to peek at Santa,
Peek at Santa, Peek at Santa.
Children try to peek at Santa,
On Christmas Eve. (cover and uncover your eyes with your hands)

Carolers come out to sing,
Out to sing, Out to sing.
Carolers come out to sing,
On Christmas Eve. (sing La, La, La)

Reindeer fly up in the sky,
In the sky, In the sky.
Reindeer fly up in the sky,
On Christmas Eve. (pretend to fly around like a reindeer)

Rudolph has a nose that glows,
Nose that glows, Nose that glows.
Rudolph has a nose that glows,
On Christmas Eve. (touch your nose with your fingers)

Santa fills the stockings,
Stockings, Stockings.
Santa fills the stockings,
On Christmas Eve. (pretend to fill stockings with toys)

Elves can finally take a break,
Take a break, Take a break.
Elves can finally take a break,
On Christmas Eve. (sigh loudly and wipe your hand across your forehead)

Santa eats his cookies,
Cookies, Cookies.
Santa eats his cookies,
On Christmas Eve. (pretend to eat lots of cookies)

Parents kiss their kids goodnight,
Kids goodnight, Kids goodnight.
Parents kiss their kids goodnight,
On Christmas Eve. (pucker your lips and pretend to kiss)

Children snuggle in their beds, (sing softly)
In their beds, In their beds. (softer)
Children snuggle in their beds, (softer)
On Christmas Eve. (sing quietly and pretend to sleep and snore)

This song works great as a lullaby on Christmas Eve. The last verse is sung quieter each line until your kids pretend to fall asleep. Merry Christmas!

I like when you write this little kids stuff, you're really good at it! It makes me miss having a little one around-my youngest is going on 14 years old.
