Children's Cold, Allergy Medicines Voluntarily Recalled

Children's Versions of Tylenol, Tylenol Plus, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl Included

A voluntary recall of certain children's versions of over-the-counter cold and allergy medicines was announced Friday (4/30/10) by McNeil Consumer Healthcare. They issued this recall in the United States and 11 other countries after consulting with the FDA.

The recall involves children's versions of Tylenol, Tylenol Plus, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl.

An Associated Press article was carried on foxnews.com today (5/01/10) entitled: 'FDA to Probe Children's Cold, Allergy Medicine Recall.'

Associated Press reports that the company is advising consumers to stop giving the products to their children as a precautionary measure. The recall was not undertaken because of any adverse effects, the company said.

Associated Press further reports that details, including NDC numbers, are available by telephone at 1-888-222-6036 or on the Web at www.mcneilproductrecall.com.

Consumers are advised how NOT to dispose of products by emptying them into your sink, toilet, or storm drain. The safe way of disposing them by proper sealing and disposing of them in the household trash is explained on this FAQ page.

    No adverse effects, that's good. Voluntary recall, that's good, too. There was something wrong with the products, though, or no recall would have happened. Awsome article yet again, btw :)
