Children's Sunglasses Recalled by FGX International

According to a press release today, December 7, 2007 from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 15 styles of children's sunglasses have been recalled due to high levels of lead.

Approximately 260,000 pairs of these sunglasses, manufactured in China and distributed by FGX International Inc. of Smithfield, Rhode Island, were sold at various stores nationwide from January 2007 through November 2007. Each pair of sunglasses sold for between $3 and $11.

The children's sunglasses have the style name printed on the inside of the left folding arm. "Foster Grant" may also appear on selected styles. The styles involved in the recall are:

Balloon
Bond
Boom
Bubble Gum
Bullseye
Buzz
Conqueror Jr.
Curly Q
Encompass Jr. IK
Fade IK
Gadget IK
Iceman
Lily
Outer Space
Pluto

Surface paint on the sunglasses contain excessive amounts of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. At this time there have been no reported incidents or injuries. If your child has these sunglasses you should immediately take them away from the children. You can return these sunglasses to FGX International for a free replacement including shipping and handling or get a full refund for the product.

    Gosh...there's just so many things being recalled now and days. It's sad to see our children at danger with all this. Great reporting again!
