The bag is made out of a thick plastic material with a zipper enclosure. Easy enough for my son to open and close. We have opened and closed this bag a lot and the zipper hasn't broken or jam once. The bag has a convenient handle on it so my son can carry it around the house and play with the blocks in different rooms. The bag holds 80 different colored and sized blocks.
The blocks are red, blue, yellow, and green. It comes with four orange knob shaped blocks and a yellow rooftop piece. This is good if your child builds a tower and they can put the rooftop piece on the top. Truthfully, I am not thrilled with the rooftop piece. I am not thrilled with the orange knobs either. When you attach them to your building, they don't always fit correctly and this just frustrates my son. I actually took it out of the bag so my son doesn't even bother with it. The set comes with two eyes that are blocks. He doesn't really seem too interested in the eyes though. They don't really go with any idea that he builds. It comes with a car that is a block. Again, he doesn't do anything with this piece either. They should have just kept the set to basic blocks. Children are creative enough to use their imagination without these extra pieces just confusing them.
The age range for this building block toy is anywhere from one years old to five years old. (Not counting my 40 year old husband).
The blocks are extremely light and easy for your child to manipulate. My son was able to connect the blocks without a problem. This is great for your child to explore their creativity and their imagination to build different things. My husband has helped my son build garages to put his cars in.
There are 80 pieces in this set so you don't have to worry about losing a piece or two. There are so many your child will always have enough to build with. Some of the blocks are one, some are two, three, and four, all the way up to eight connectors. The blocks are big so they don't pose a choking hazard for your child.
Amazon.com sells this bag of blocks for $19.95. Toys R Us is selling them for $17.99. You could also get these blocks in a set of pink for your little girl. Target is also selling it and the price is $14.99.
I think the Mega Blok building set is a great training tool before you buy the smaller Lego block sets. We have been using the Mega Blok since he was one years old. Now that he just turned two, we have moved on the smaller Lego block sets. I keep the Mega Blox in his toy box because he will still play with them. It just depends on his mood I guess.
