Chili Recipe: The Yummiest Chili Around

Drew Bush
My family has been making chili this way for many years. It is good for anytime of the year. I promise you that it is nothing like those jarred or canned versions. This is real homemade chili at its best. What's even better is that it is not hard to make. In the end, it'll taste so yummy that people will think you worked on it for hours.

Ingredients:

1 onion sliced (2 onions for double recipe)
1 lb 93% lean hamburger (2 lbs for double recipe)
1 large can (32 oz) tomatoes (1 can chopped, 1 whole large can of crushed tomatoes for double recipe)
1 15 oz can of kidney beans (exclude if you don't like the beans)
Chili Powder (start with 1 Tbsp)
Dash of garlic powder
1 green pepper

Directions:

First, fry the onions in 1 tbsp of oil in a large pan. Then add the meat to the onions and brown the meat. After it is done, drain excess fat and liquid. Put the meat and onions in a large pot. Then add the tomatoes and all the juices of the tomato. Add the kidney beans and kidney bean juice and a dash of garlic powder. Let the dish simmer until all ingredients are cooked (peppers and beans are soft).

There are many side dishes that'll complement the chili. When my family and I have chili, we usually have corn bread or mashed potatoes. You can used the box kind or make it homemade. The great thing about this meal is that its healthy and lean and it will stick to your ribs. Enjoy!
