In the beginning is________________Before 1550BC

Neolithic black pottery

From the Pan-p'o-ts'un

Period.

Then came the Shang

Period.__________________________1550-1030BC

Writing went from left

to right and also right

to left. The scribe used

simple oracle bones.

With his scratches

he'd pour hot metal.

With his brush they

would paint letters.

Period.

Astronomy was a key

the years and days

were also opened

during the Shang

Period.

They followed a deity

called 'TI' who they'd

seen in the weather.

'The genius loci'

represented the

body, the soil and

the mountains.

Nearly three thousand______________1368-1644AD

years later and through

the change of Dynasty's

China began the Ming

Period.

Sheperds or monks,

bandits and warlords

all fought Peking

to enthrone King Ming.

Along the great wall

the successors watch

over 40 mile borders.

The grandeur of Rome

and Greece thus travel

East.

Later the end of this

Period:

Scholars, academism,

collectors and amateurs

all sort out independence.

However be warned

a gentlemen painter

was executed for using

taboo red.

They loved birds, flowers

and colourful decorations

of the proud Ming Dynasty

Period.

Not long after the last world

war China received the

'Peoples Republic'____________________1949

Having spectated the power

of the West's machinery

they too followed suit.

Before this they peddled

jade carp, I-hsing ware,

Lacquer and glass enamel

snuff-bottles.

One such frame of art

is called the Taoist

Paradise.

It is carved of red lacquer

inset with jade, lapis lazuli

and guilt metal.

Made in the eighteenth

century to represent

the 'Chang Dynasty

Period'.
