Chlorophyll - a Superfood

Chlorophyll- A Superfood

Who would think a seemingly simple green pigment that plants produce through photosynthesis could have amazing effects on your health, and, in fact, has the ability to build and carry red blood cells(haemoglobin), the foundation of well-being in the body?

The fact is, chlorophyll has exactly the same molecular structure as haemoglobin, except that its centre atom is iron, and haemoglobin's is magnesium. If you drink chlorophyll it will increase the quantity and quality of your red blood cells. This, in turn helps your body detoxify, fight infection, and heal wounds. It is high in Vitamins A, C, and E, so it promotes the health of the circulatory, digestive, and immune systems, and increases the body's ability to use oxygen efficiently. In addition, chlorophyll reduces the binding ability of carcinogens to DNA in the liver and in other organs. It also protects against carcinogens found in fungus-laden food such as nuts and grains, toxins in cooked meats, and air-borne carcinogens(pollution).

Chlorophyll breaks down kidney stones (calcium oxalate), so they can be eliminated from the body. It can also bind and remove heavy metals such as mercury, which many of us still have in fillings in our teeth.

Another property of chlorophyll is that is an antiseptic, not externally, but internally; it aids our bodies' tissues in the fight against germs. It also strengthens these tissues, increases the disease-resistance of cells, and prevents the growth of bacteria in the body.

A very simple, but everyday use of chlorophyll is its ability to cleanse bad breath by deodorizing the mouth and throat, and it also increases the health of the digestive tract itself.

In all, chlorophyll is a truly incredible food, that can be obtained, usually in liquid form, at a natural food store, or at your local pharmacy or grocery store. You can get it flavoured with mint, or natural, and a few tablespoons every day in water, or straight, will give you all the above-listed health boosters. Nature, in its greenest form- what could be more natural, simple, or make more sense?
