A recall of Artisan Confections Dagoba new moon Rich Dark Chocolate bars has been issued due to the possibility the product may contain salmonella.

According to the FDA, only a limited number of Artisan Confections Dagoba new moon Rich Dark Chocolate bars are being recalled. No other products sold under the brand name are being recalled.

Consumers read about recalls often enough not to be too surprised to learn about this chocolate recall. The chocolate bars involved in this recall were sold nationwide online. Also, the products are sold in some natural food stores and in some specialty food retail stores.

The recalled Dagoba chocolate are presented for sale in display boxes. The products were made available after October 27, 2010. The UPC number on the recalled chocolate will be 1047455509.

Although there have been no consumer complaints or reports of illness, the Dagoba chocolate that may contain salmonella should not be eaten. Any consumer with the Dagoba product may return it for a refund.

It is impossible to tell by looking at recalled food if it contains salmonella. This recall was issued after a quality check found salmonella in one sample. Out of concern for the safety of the general public, such recalls are issued once salmonella has been found in a sample.
