- 2 bags of chocolate morsels (any morsel flavor that you like works well here. If you have a lot of people to make chocolates for, get several different kinds of chocolates and give each person one of each).
- Can of nuts (peanuts are the least expensive, but any kind of nuts will do. You could also do this recepie with fruit like raspberries or strawberries, which is an especially good idea if someone on your list is allergic to nuts).
- Wax paper
- Tissue or wrapping paper
- Colored yarn, twine, or ribbon
Lay out your wax paper on a baking sheet to drop the chocolates onto.
In a heavy pan on low heat, pour your chocolate morsels.
Melt, mixing occasionally. Pour in enough nuts to get a very lumpy consistency.
Remove from heat.
Scoop out a large spoon-full of chocolate covered nuts. Drop onto wax paper. Repeat.
Refrigerate.
When chocolates are hard, wrap them in wax paper, then in colorful tissue paper with ribbon and place back in the fridge until you're ready to give them to your guests.
Enjoy!
If you are having a party for adults, the chocolates you just made would be great favors. To make them more elegant you could finely chop the nuts, or use fruit, and make one batch with white chocolate and another with dark chocolate and give a few of each to your party guests, wrapped simply in tissue paper with a ribbon. Another twist on this theme is to make up two pots of chocolate at the same time, one with milk chocolate and one with butterscotch chocolate, or you could use one pot of white chocolate and one pot of milk chocolate. When you drop the chocolates onto the wax paper drop the darker chocolate onto the wax paper, wait a few seconds and then drop the lighter chocolate right on top of it. This makes a really nice layered effect.
If your party is for small boys, try using raisins or whole nuts in the chocolates, with semi-sweet and milk chocolate, and call them mouse droppings, moose droppings, or a similar name. These can be wrapped very simply by placing them in brown sandwich bags and folding up the top and writing with a Sharpie or marker "deer droppings" or whichever name you choose.
If your party is for small girls, try using white chocolate with confetti sprinkles on top and call them princess nibbles, or tea-time sweets. (Of course the mouse droppings will go over quite well with a lot of girls as well.)
