Choices

Robin Jessie-Green
"This is about the choice you made, not mine."

That's what you said.

And it keeps playing over in my head.

Well, maybe those aren't the exact words.

But it's what I heard

And all I can say now is, "You're right."

I want to put the past passed us

I don't want to continue this fight.

It blocks the future

and makes the present miserable.

I wouldn't have done things that way

had I known it would leave what I say

unbelievable

and you mistrusting me.

It isn't how it used to be.

And yes, I know it begins from the choice I made.

But yet, it stems from those you declined to make.

You chose too.

Unfortunately, not what I'd hoped of you.

And it hurts.

And what's worse

is things remain unchanged

Because every day

You are choosing

for life

to stay

the same.
