Cholera outbreak in Haiti prompts Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti to ask for volunteers
Volunteers Are Needed Now and in the Future to Help Local Groups
Charlotte, NC 28205
United States of America
As the health crisis in Haiti grows, it is not just cholera that must be dealt with. Agencies, such as Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti, have traveled to Haiti with donations from people in Charlotte and other areas of North Carolina. Groups such as this one sometimes travel with medical personnel that volunteer their time and knowledge to assist in all health areas.
Tomorrow Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti will meet to prepare medical supplies and more that are being shipped to Haiti. Anyone wanting to help can meet the group tomorrow, November 20th at RonMan Import/Export warehouse located at 1030 Louise Avenue in Charlotte at 11 AM. Everyone is asked to bring markers, tape and boxes if possible.
Sabine Guerrier serves as president of Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti. Ms. Guerrier stated it is understood this is last minute, however, things must be done quickly because of the cholera outbreak. Volunteers will be asked to sort and package items that will be part of the shipment for Haiti.
In Charlotte, the Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse and local churches continue to help Haiti and other countries as well as those in the United States with a need. Those willing to donate to such agencies may target their donation as being for Haiti, for this cholera outbreak, or for any other project they are aware of.
This link is included with this article that will show some photos with comments about the most recent cholera outbreak. To learn more about any agency mentioned in this article more links will be provided below.
To reach someone at Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti about possibly traveling with a medical team or making a donation, please contact Sabine Guerrier at 704-890-9903. Ms. Guerrier may also be reached by email by using sabinesg@hotmail.com.
