Cholesterol screening is very important for early detection of any problems that one may have related to this aspect of our health. In the Mora and East Central part of Mn. where I reside, several screening sites for testing ones cholesterol levels are available.

Minute Clinics, where no appointments are necessary are available in CVS Pharmacy and Cub Foods mall and corporate locations in areas where these business are located. They are usually open 7 days a week. Depending on the location the cost is usually around $45.00 for the screening.

Life Line Screening has been in existence since 1993, and offers community based screenings. The following places are offering this service within the next couple of months. Although Mora,Mn. itself doesn't have this service available right now, surrounding areas within 30 to 60 miles are offering it at several locations.

The cholesterol screening that measures 3 different kinds of lipids (HDL, LDL, Triglycerides) is usually a finger-stick screening that will also measures your total cholesterol. Your results are usually available within a week to 21 days. If a problem exists, your physician will discuss your treatment options with you. Fasting may be required before your cholesterol screening is administered.
